I am delighted as well as bemused that you are studying my work.

However, I cannot do your homework for you. Please don’t write and ask me, for example, what the main themes of Girl with a Pearl Earring are. I am sure your teachers would like you to figure that out for yourself. I know I would.

I am also unable to answer specific questions about myself and my writing. However, I have answered many questions in many different ways over the years, and I expect if you look around, you’ll find some satisfactory answers. Go through the FAQs, as well as the online interviews I’ve provided links for, which you’ll find at the end of Biography.

To those students who have been asked by your teacher to write to me as an assignment or for extra credit: That is sweet, and I thank you. But I am not likely to be able to write back quickly, and I suspect your deadline will have long passed. Sorry!

To university and post-grad students: Time is so short that I can’t do long interviews for your dissertations, for which I apologize. If you are looking for secondary sources on my work, I’m afraid not much has been published yet. (Perhaps that’s why you’re writing something!) Click here for a bibliography of a few works I've found that have mentioned my work.

Should you publish anything, let me know.
